Antique Pearl Pin Victorian Dangle Crystal Brooch 1930s Jewelry $85

Antique Pearl Pin Victorian Dangle Crystal Brooch 1930s Jewelry

Before the term US designer jewelry came about, there were hundreds if not thousands of artisans that came from the old world and operated jewelry manufacturing businesses here in the US. Some of their names are known to vintage jewelry collectors but for the most part, costume jewelry made in the 1920-1930 era was unsigned and the makers are not known.

I strongly admire this dangle pearl brooch because it is exceptional old world craftsmanship and the design is pure Victorian. The three large teardrop hollow glass pearls are suspended from a leaf swag, made of silver pot metal, and set with pairs of Austrian clear crystals on each leaf.

The silver metal pot metal setting is thick and strong and if you look at the back you can see the crystals are open backed with gold foil backs. All of the crystals are diamond like sparkling clear and are all original and present.

The pearls are Majorca pearls, which is a very old technique from Spain for creating glass faux pearls. Evidence of stippling or tiny bubbles in the finish is visible in some spots as Majorca pearls should have. The pearls are in good clean condition with no flaking or peeling ; there are some tiny scratches.

Medium in size, the brooch is 1 3/4" long x 1 1/2" tall or 44 mm x 38 mm. The pearls are 14 mm and 17 mm long.

The pot metal is clean with no pitting, verdigris, or oxidation and the back has a light patina from age. The brooch is not signed.

Comes gift wrapped and shipped in new luxury presentation brooch box.
