Art Nouveau Angel Pin Sterling Spanish Antique Brooch C. 1900 $145

A masterful design of old elaborate mold work, this rare sterling silver angel pin was made somewhere between 1890 to 1920 during the Art Nouveau period. It is an old European design that was made in either Spain or Portugal.

The angel has her arm gracefully extended, pointing the way to heaven. Notice the intricate detail in the wings, her hair, the ruffled dress ,and the laurel wreath or flowers in her hand. The pin can also be worn as a pendant and it has a custom made original bail.

The design is not flat; it is made in full 3D styling. Look at the back of the brooch and you can see the old European mold work. Also notice the style of the safety clasp which dates the piece to the Art Nouveau period. In very tiny print, the word SOMAS and 925 is stamped. The word Somas could be either Spanish or Portuguese.

Medium in size, the angel is about 1 3/4" long x 13/8 " wide or 45 mm x 35 mm. The entire brooch (or pendant) is in superb clean condition with no imperfections or flaws. There are no scratches, dents, or dings. The sterling has not been cleaned and retains the orignial antique patina.

Comes gift wrapped and shipped in a new luxury presentation brooch box.
