Antique Jewelry Box Embossed Celluloid Victorian Boy Girl Skating XLG $65

CLICK HERE FOR MORE PHOTOS OR TO BUY

I cannot tell you exactly when this antique jewelry box was made but Im certain it was before 1940; probably between 1915-1935.

This is a very rare antique jewelry box; you will most likely never see another one like it.

This extra large box is a dove tailed wood box with a molded celluloid overlay. There is a celluloid cherub, ornate scrolls and flowers. The mold work is in relief and the celluoid is honey brown or a golden tan. On one half of the box is a Vicorian boy and girl ice skating; it is an applique molded under clear plastic. The front has the original antique brass hinge and the hinges on the back are original as well.

Large in size, the box is 9 1/2" wide x 7" tall x 2 1/2" deep.

The box is in fair condition and fair is good for a jewelry box of this style. Similar ones I have seen in the past were in wretched condition; too poor to repair or keep. You will notice flaking or peeling and brown foxing on the sides of the lid and some on the bottom corners. You will also notice some light scratches and specks of discoloration. On the lid, on the portrait side, there is a slight roll at the center where it is not completely flat, or delaminated.
The interior has three compartments with the original old, worn, silk lining on the lid only. All of the compartments, and the lid, need new silk lining. The bottom is finished in the original old patterned paper and is aged but in tact. The box is all original and has not been altered or restored and is not signed that I can find.

If this box were in not excellent, but just very good condition, it would have a value of about $ 200-250. Just replacing the silk inside, the box would be worth at $ 125-145.

Antique Gold Candlesticks French Art Nouveau Pair $65

CLICK HERE FOR MORE PHOTOS OR TO BUY

Over the past 40 years, there is a particular style of antique candlesticks I have collected. This cast metal pair was made in France in the Art Nouveau period, or late 19th century.

The candlesticks have unique architectural design along with Fleur de Lis designs, swags and flowers. They are finished in dark gold paint. A style like this is very uncommon to find.

Medium in size, the candlesticks are 5 1/4" tall x 3" wide at the base.

Of course the gold has some light wear but most candlesticks like these have no gold left at all. The important condition aspect is there are no cracks, dings, damage, or repairs. Both candlesticks are perfectly straight. ( Any distortion in the photos is an optical illusion.) Overall, the gold is in excellent condition for age. The candlesticks are not signed that I can find.

Antique Bavarian Bowl Hand Carved Wood w HP Flowers Early 20th C. $60

CLICK HERE FOR MORE PHOTOS OR TO BUY

I have loved this hand painted Bavarian bowl for many decades. I have a large collection of hand painted antique wooden plates and bowls but now it is time for me to reluctantly sell parts of my collection.

This bowl was made in the 1930-1940 era and it is not signed but I can assure you it is Bavarian. The bowl is old hand carved fruit wood and the hand painted flowers are primary colors. The artistry is spectacular and the red ribbon trim around the perimeter is impressive. I admire hand carved items like this because the bowl is somewhat oval, not perfectly round, as old hand carved items are uniquely hand made.

The bowl measures 10 1/2" wide with a 1" deep lip. A hanger could be added to the back for hanging, or it can be displayed on a plate easel, or laid on a table.

I have kept this bowl unused in a curio cabinet for many decades. The entire bowl is in superb condition with no signs of wear and no imperfections or flaws.

Chinese Cloisonne Box Lidded Bowl Candy Dish Early 20th Century $75

CLICK TITLE TO BUY

Made in China in the early 20th Century, this Cloisonne round lidded box is not an easy box to find.

Im not an expert in antique Cloisonne but I do have extensive knowledge about the subject. I know that lidded boxes with finials are not easy to find. The is a great price on this piece. When I do find lidded round boxes similar to this one for sale online they are typically listed for around $ 145 or more.

This box is signed China with an impressive stamp in the metal on the bottom of the bowl. It is a stamp that was first used in 1897 and is not an easy Chinese mark to find.

The primary colors of the Cloisonne are white speckled with black, red, pink, yellow, lime green, dark green, and blue. The patterns are fish scale, lotus flower, and chrysanthemum motifs. The box itself is made of copper, not brass.

Alligator Vintage Handbag or Storage Box 1950s Made in Havana Cuba $49

This full body alligator hand bag was made in Havana Cuba in the 1950s and still has the original label.

Vintage alligator handbags can vary widely in condition and this alligator is in much better condition than most. The alligator has neat blue glass marble eyes as well. The alligator has some minor imperfections, but the color retention and oils in the skin are well retained.

This hand bag no longer has the strap, but I've never seen a vintage alligator bag with a strap that was usable or reliable. The bag is nice and clean and would be perfect to sit on a focal shelf for storage of special items.

The bag is 8" tall x 9" wide 3" front to back or 20 cm x 23 cm x 8 cm.

Here are the imperfections :

There is one small tear and one small separation/crack on the front.

The areas where the straps used to be; the skin is worn.
Some light wear to the leather in small spots inside.

Vintage Bamboo Handbag 1950s Japanese Oriental Purse $65

CLICK TITLE TO BUY

This Japanese Bamboo handbag was made in the 1940 -1950 era, or the post WWII Era or Mid Century Modern Era. This handbag is very special and is RARE to find.

For over 40 years I have collected all types of old bamboo wares. I have antique and vintage bamboo furniture, fishing poles, baskets, and all types of bamboo arts and crafts. Bamboo is all over my home, including vertical bamboo panel shades on my French doors and long French windows, and bamboo grass cloth on some of my walls. When I lived in the FL Keys for 20 years, one of my favorite pastimes was to walk the beaches and collect bamboo poles of all sizes which I use for curtain rods, wind chimes, and other crafts.

This hand bag is special because not only is this style rare to find but I have never used it and it has been stashed away for decades. When you look at the unique construction of this bag, you will notice the bamboo rods through the ends that act like pivots, onto which all the bamboo slats are stacked upon. This type of construction is unique in that it is made like old Japanese fishing traps, which is where the inspiration for this handbag came from.

All of the bamboo slats are in excellent well cared for condition with no imperfections or flaws. All of the hand tied red cord is in excellent condition as well. (I had to make one small repair to a small section but it is hard to notice.)

Because the slats have gaps, it is not advisable to put loose items in the bag. Instead, use a combination of large colorful cosmetic bags to put everything in. Or if you want to take the time, you could glue a fabric liner to the inside using any material you want.

Large in size, the handbag is 14 1/2" long x 13 1/2" tall (with handles) x 7 1/2" wide, or 37 cm x 34 cm x 19 cm. Below the handles, there is a bamboo closure mechanism of two interlocking slats. The inside of the bag is stamped in black ink Made in Japan.

Both women and men wore duck pins in the 1950-1960 era. From the 1940s thru the 1970s, my grandfather was an avid goose and duck hunter on the Chesapeake Bay and I remember his hats, vests, and hunting jackets heavily adorned with wild game pins and special feathers.

Deco Retro Vintage Pierced Earrings Black Diamond Hoops $18

Light weight to wear and large in size, the earrings are 3" or 76 mm long.

The pair is in pristine clean condition and the ear studs are new and never worn. Because the black acrylic is highly polished, tiny scratches and light hints of wear can be seen when viewed up close. The earrings are not signed.

Sugar Glass Vintage Necklace RARE Black n Pink 1950s Vintage Jewelry $75

CLICK TITLE TO BUY

In my 30+ years of collecting antique and vintage jewelry, one of my favorite types of jewelry to collect are vintage sugar beads. Sugar bead necklaces in great condition are very hard to find today.

Sugar glass beads are created when tiny particles of colored glass are applied to a bead and fired, slightly melting or fusing to the bead, resulting in a glittery, sandy texture. It is actually an ancient technique but was predominately made by the Japanese in the 1940-1960 era.

I've seen a lot of sugar bead necklaces and they are all usually yellow, white, pink, blue, or green. I have never seen another sugar glass necklace like this one, with pink flowers and green leaves on black beads. The hot pink sugar flowers jump out and look electric or neon!

Typically, most sugar glass necklaces had the sugar particles rolled onto the bead surface as a coating, but these beads were hand painted with sugar glass. The black beads are acrylic rounds and the larger beads have silver serrated bell caps.

Notice the matching hidden insert clasp and the silver crown setting. This is a late 1950s or early 1960s clasp style.

The necklace is 23" or 58.4 cm long. The beads are 10 mm, 12 mm, and 15 mm.

The entire necklace is in pristine clean like new condition with no signs of wear or imperfections . I've inspected each and every sugar bead and there is no missing glass. The clasp is signed Japan.

Funky Vintage Earrings Wild Deco Triangles 1970s Jewelry $24

CLICK TITLE TO BUY

After many decades, Im reluctantly selling these wild funky earrings.

The earrings are for pierced ears and they were made in the early 1970s. I wore them a few times in the 1970s and every time I wore them, my girl friends and sisters tried to steal them. I put them away along with thousands of other jewelry items I have and forgot I had them.

Recently when I re-discovered them, I realized they were quite special as the jump ring is not metal. Technically, the earrings are not acrylic like we know today. They are old poured thermoset plastic in bright yellow, purple, and light green. The plastic is very light weight and borders on what we know as old celluloid.

The earrings are 3 1/4" or 83 mm long.

The pair is in excellent clean glossy condition with some very light microscopic wear only where the triangles rub against each other (hardly worth noting). The ear studs are new and never worn.

Comes gift wrapped and shipped in a new presentation earring box.

Art Deco Necklace Lady Face Tortoise Shell w MOP 1920s Oriental Jewelry $195

CLICK TITLE TO BUY

Made in the Far East in the 1920-1930 era, this exceptional hand carved lady face pendant is probably one of a kind. Im certain it was not a mass produced item.

The lady is made of genuine Tortoise shell with engraved Oriental details on the front, or in the lady's hair. The face is hand carved and hand painted Mother of Pearl.

The tortoise shell is a double layer with the front and back sections laminated together. The Mother of Pearl is not sandwiched between the two tortoise shell layers. The tortoise shell area on the front is carved in a tear drop shape and the MOP lady face is precisely carved to match the curve; on the same plane. The front of the pendant is not flat and is slightly domed.

The bail is hand carved tortoise shell; not applied, but a hand carved part of the back tortoise layer.

So, how do you know when tortoise shell is old ? Old tortoise shell has a smooth glazed patina much like the diferrence between regular glass and beach glass.

Milk Glass Crystal Earrings Superb Dangles 1950s Jewelry $45

CLICK TITLE TO BUY

Made in the 1950s, these milk glass and clear Austrian crystal dangle earrings are a very unusual design! Most vintage milk glass earrings are either button styles or rather conservative in nature, but these earrings have a lot of swing and flash!

The earrings are clips but they are the slender lever style that are comfortable to wear. Each earring has 5 dangles with round and oval pinched and twisted milk glass beads. The round faceted clear crystals have an iridescent AB finish and reflect pastel hues of light. Notice that these earrings were made in a very time consuming fashion as all of the beads are connected with individual brass head pins.

Medium large in size, the earrings from top to bottom are 2 1/2" or 62 mm long. The crystal rounds are 6 mm and 8.5 mm and the largest milk glass beads are 15 mm long.

The pair is in super pristine clean like new condition with no imperfections or flaws. All of the crystals have strong facets and no wear, chips, or cracks. The milk glass beads are glossy and super clean. The brass head pins, at the ends of just the bottom beads, have a darkened patina from age. Hippie Necklace Domed Glass Flower Pendant 1960s Vintage Jewelry $55

CLICK TITLE TO BUY

Made in the 1960-1970 era, this authentic hippie flower necklace is a style I used to love to wear when I was teenager back then.

There are three things that sets this pendant apart from newer glass flower reproduction pendants. First, this is not plastic. This is weighty old lead glass that resists wear and tear.

Second, the pendant bezel and the large bail are quality silver chromium metal that holds up like the chrome on a 1960s Chevy bumper.

Last, the flowers are traditional romantic types; a dogwood flower, a rose, and lobelias. The flowers are not hand painted: they are silk screened on the back side of the glass.

The pendant also has the original 24 " or 61 cm long chromium plated heavy link chain. Medium large in size, the pendant is about 1 1/2" or 36 mm wide.

Both pendant and chain are both in pristine clean like new condition with no imperfections or flaws. There are no scratches, scuffs, or chips on the glass. There is no paint wear to the flowers and no chrome wear or loss of chrome on the pendant or the chain. The pendant is not signed.

Chrysocolla Brooch Big Gemstone Pin 1960s Vintage Jewelry $145

This exceptional Chrysocolla gemstone brooch or pendant is a very rare find.

The impressive Big cab had beautiful turquoise blue / green marbled hues. This particular Chrysocolla cab has a unique crystalline structure that's adds a slight sparkle.

It is very rare to find a Chrysocolla gem of this size and the brooch was made in the 1955-1965 era. Today, if you go to gem sites and try to buy a Chrysocolla cab this size, it will cost about $ 220 just for the gemstone!

This brooch is probably one of a kind and was hand made and not mass produced. I can tell you this because I recognize the setting style. Settings like this could be purchased at craft stores and you put your own stone in the setting. Back in the 1960s, Im certain a Chrysocolla cab like this one was not nearly as expensive as they are today. One really great feature about the gold brooch setting : It has a bail on the back and can also be worn vertically as a pendant.

The brooch is very large at 2" tall x 1 5/8" wide or 53 mm x 40 mm. The cab is 40 mm x 31 mm.

The entire brooch is in pristine super clean condition with no imperfections or flaws. The Chrysocolla is smooth polished and not is not clear coated. The surface is slightly granular to the touch. There are no cracks or chips; there are some natural stable fissures. The brooch is not signed.

Chinese Cloisonne Bracelets Old Pair 1940s Vintage Jewelry $45

CLICK TITLE TO BUY

There are several ladies who come here to my site looking for old Cloisonné bangle bracelets. If you collect this type of jewelry then you probably know as well as I do determining when older Cloisonne bangles were made can sometimes be rather difficult.

Typically, dating such is determined by the colors and the style of the inlay. In addition, wide Cloisonné bangles were not made in the 1920-1940 era, but very slender bangles like these were. Based on these factors, I would date these bangles from the 1930-1940 era. In the 1950s, Cloisonné bangles were predominately wider, used different hues of certain colors, and had different designs.

Im listing these bangles at a very low price. The price you see is for the pair. As is common with Cloisonne bangles this old, both bangles have signs of wear and some missing inlay.

The red bracelet is also not perfectly flat, probably just how it was made. It is hard for me to describe the extent of the wear to the enamel inlay except to say they do have moderate signs of wear. When I run my fingers across the inside and the outside, I do feel rough spots, but I don't feel and loose enamel. Please look at all the photos above.

To preserve the enamel, what would be best to do is to coat the enamel with one layer of clear fingernail polish. You cant do the whole bracelet at one time, but you can do one side, let it dry, then do the other side. This is something I can do as well for a small fee if you don't have the time or the patience.

The bangles are very slender but they are not small in size. Both are 2 3/4" or 70 mm wide across the inside. The bangles are each about 1/8" or 4 mm wide.

Cloisonne Bird Pin Hummingbird Brooch Vintage Jewelry $30

Made in the 1960-1970 era, this vintage Cloisonne hummingbird pin is a large design.

The hummingbird is made of polished gold metal and the Cloisonne enamels are rose pink, medium pink, black, and light grey. These are unusual colors for a hummingbird pin as later designs were typically made in peacock or jewel tone colors. The back of the pin is polished gold metal with an uncommon stamped butterfly pattern in the metal.

The hummingbird is 1 5/8" tall x 2" wide or 41 mm x 52 mm. You can get a better indication of the size by viewing the photo of the pin in my hand.

The entire pin is in super pristine clean like new condition with no imperfections or flaws. The pin retains the clear gloss coat and there are no scratches, chips, cracks, or crazing to the enamels. The back has the original fine working safety clasp.
